Shots

Q: What does it mean when a 3 year old shouts "no!" over and over while pointing at his thighs?

A: It means he has begun to catch up on the immunizations he hasn't had since he was 2 months old. Poor baby! He was really brave for his 5 shots plus a TB test yesterday!

We are almost ready to get him in Head Start and Early Intervention now. Just have to have the TB test read on Friday.

Awww...poor little dude!! That's no fun at all! My kiddoes don't like those either.

But, that's great that he's almost all ready to go to Head Start and EI!

Shots are horrible! I was So relieved that neither of my kiddos had to get any shots this year!

I'm sure he will just blossom under your love and care and with the early intervention!

My kids just must be freaks. We went in telling them it was going to hurt, just a little and for just a second, but that it would help make them healthy. Were there tears? A few. But mostly just "hurry up and get it over with!". Does he have to have any more shots soon?

I can't imagine trying to "catch up"...how do they schedule that? Every doctor visit for a 3 year old is a BIG deal...so to have EVERY visit for the next year be coupled with shots too, that's rough.
We tell our kids too that they are getting the shots, and we've had the whole range of reactions. My 10 year old still freaks out at the thought of a needle, but my 5 year old has never cried much...if at all.
Give K a big hug...and yourself a pat on the back. It's a rough thing.
