Technology wishes

Blog people are pretty savvy people, methinks. If that's true, I'm sadly out of place. But it does put me in a good spot to ask for help.

Hypothetically, if you were asked to help think of truly useful, contstructive and worthwhile ways to help (ahem) invest your work group's technology budget before the end of the fiscal year, what great ideas would you have? Assuming you already have a brand-new laptop, a flat-screen monitor, a scanner, a laser printer and a cell phone, and the department has a digital camera which you can use any old time.

(My cell phone is almost two years old. Is that old for a cell phone? Should I try to get a new one?)

What's your work wish list? And can you think of a way to justify a big fat 40 gig iPod as a part of it?

Oooh.... maybe a PalmPilot or PDA? And maybe if you do transcribing you can get the iPod that way...

A new phone is most definitely in order. I'd shoot for a crackberry. That way you get the whole office-in-a-phone thing going on which makes it totally justifiable for a work expense!

The iPod is a must-have so you can listen to podcasts of prof's lectures & stuff.

Dad and I think maybe a video camera? Though I don't know what you would use it for.

Such good ideas. We can't have crackberries though, because they're not bluetooth compatible, or something, and you have to be at director level to have one. Policy.

We do have a videocam, good idea though.

I think we have settled on some good quality sound recording equipment so we can do audio podcasts. This might become my new baby at work. That would be fun. Hey, I do have background in radio! That early morning shift at K101 might finally pay off!

And welcome to Ms. Marta! That's my supercute highschool sister for those who might wish to know.

I should have said, you have to be director level to get a comparable product. Still no crackberries, even for directors. I think.
