Runaway

I was going to tell you, on Sunday when sacrament meeting was getting so frustrating with all the little wild things, I just ran away. Specifically, I ran to the mother's room and rocked Z to sleep and actually listened to the speakers. I didn't even rush back to sing in the choir. I just listened. It was awesome. Amazing to hear the messages and to feel something in my heart while holding the sweet weight of a chubby ten-month-old baby in a dark and solitary room. I needed that a lot.

Tonight, my plan is to ditch Mutual and hang out with my kids. They are just having movie night. They really don't need me there.

I think these little things might just be the key to my sanity.

Running away is good for the soul. I ran away for a week last year.

I'm starting small.

I ran away in Sacrament meeting once, too. The sunlight coming in a window & hitting me in the face was giving me a migraine. I went to the nursery to get some goldfish to eat so my migraine meds wouldn't upset my stomach, then sat on the floor leaning on a wall in the dark and listened to the meeting on the speakers with my eyes closed. One of the best sacrament meetings I've experienced in years!

I love the solitude that the mother's lounge can bring!
Starting small is better than never starting at all.

Running away is good. But our mother's lounge always smells like you are sitting in a very smelly diaper, it is very hard to spend time there. I want to hang out in your mother's lounge.

Most of the other mothers in my ward have just sent their babies off to college. It makes for a very peaceful and non-smelly mother's room.

Smart. I KNOW you have other able bodied women in there to put in a video. Family first. Always.
