Heartbreaker

Some kids in my almost-six-year-old's summer program taught him the word f****t. He was so sad when he told me he got in trouble for this. My heart was breaking for him! And for the kids who probably learned that word from their parents, and the world they're going to grow up to. This could lead to a HUGE post about my agonies over choosing schools and programs for my kids, but I'll save it for another day.

We had a good talk about words that people use for hate and why we don't use them.

But look how good his writing is!

I can't believe she made him write "inappropriate"! That is soooo hard for a beginning writer! Should have used "rude" or "mean" words. Poor Sam..

Ugh... our kids have to grow up too fast by being in this world. It does break my heart too. Hugs to Sam...

This story breaks my heart! It is so painful to see your babies experience injustice! And the world wants them to grow up so fast... I didn't expect the empathy pain when I decided to be a mom. Sometimes it is like remembering and re-living the hardest parts of childhood.
