In other news, it appears we are not moving to Montana this summer. It has been surprisingly deflating to learn this. I was sure it was going to happen since it was a location I was ambivalent about. (A lot of cold weather and not so much cultural diversity!) So I got myself all psyched up for it. We got really close to it. Really close. And then - blah.
So. If you work at a university, college or research organization, or if you have one near you, and you would like a sari-stocked, Bollywood dancing neighbor, check their jobs site and let me know what you find for a Ph.D. hydrologist. I am way tired of helping with the job hunt and Dr. G is even more bummed than I am.
But we are dancing!

I didn't know Montana was on a possible list. It is all the things you listed (cold and not very culturally diverse) but a great place. I'm assuming you would have been in either Missoula or Bozeman and those are both excellent cities to live in. Very liberal, if that's the kind of thing you're into:)
So, I'm sorry it's not looking like a go. I'm sure something fantastic will work out. Keeping my fingers crossed!
So sorry to hear that it didn't work out. I am sure that something will come along for you all, but I am sorry you are in this discouraging place right now.
Lucy, it was actually MT Tech in Butte. Do you understand the initial ambivalence now? ;) But I really did get excited about it. DH's parents both grew up there, so it was on the lowdown; he wanted to surprise them if he got it. His brother lives in Bozeman and is a prof at MSU.
Thanks, Braden. I know we will get there and we are very blessed that he has temporary employment that will probably carry us through to whatever comes next.
I'd like to say I'm sorry, but then you'd know that I am the kind of friend that would lie to you, and I just can't do that to our friendship.
I am, however, sorry that no job has been found yet. Does that count?
